Savoury Mince with mashed potatoes


2 small ¾ full pans of potatoes which are made to mash
2 packet of  beef mince
4 onions
3 leeks
1 bag carrots grated.
5 parsnips
1 swede


  1. Fry off mince in big pan, and drain off surplus fat into old baked bean tin
  2. Then add some garlic, mince, onions and leeks until coloured.
  3. Then add carrots, parsnip and the chopped up swede, add cover with boiling water.
  4. Season with pepper and mixed herbs and simmer for one hour.
  5. If needed, thicken with cornflour.
  6. To make mash, boil the potatoes until soft, drain and add margarine using the hand whisk whisk until smooth.
  7. If there are children who can’t have dairy, remove their portions now.
  8. Then add milk and mix again. Cover with lid to keep warm.
