Please could we ask everyone to avoid bringing any nuts and food containing nuts into the Nursery. This is most important as we do have children for whom contact with nuts could be life threatening. Staff have been trained to deal with allergic reactions- Epi pen, etc but prevention is better than cure.
Ariana Wood, Bobby Weir, Evelyn Edwards, Cerys Davies, Archie Messum, Orla Dodd, Elliot Wood Jack Blake, Reggie Ellis and Freddy Jones who have all joined Buttercups over the last few months.
We hope you are all settling in well. Mums and Dads, please don’t forget if you have any questions or if there is anything you would like to discuss then speak to the girls in the unit, come to the office or phone/ send an e-mail and we will be happy to help.
Donna will be starting her maternity leave in the middle of June, so we are pleased to say we have offered a job to Zoe McCallion. Zoe will be starting at Buttercups on 14th May. Zoe has several years experience of working in nursery settings, and is currently baby room leader at her current Nursery. We are so pleased Zoe excepted the position and are sure she will fit in as part of the team with the girls in the baby room.
Please could you call and let the staff know if your child will not be attending Nursery on any given day? We appreciate that sometimes it slips your mind, but it does stop the staff from worrying about the absent children. It also allows us to identify any patterns of sickness or infections and to plan school runs effectively. It also helps Stephen in the kitchen, especially if those children are off are having a dietary requirement catered for.
We are open 7.45AM until 5.45PM.
We are closed on Monday 7th May & Monday 28th for Bank Holidays.
From the 1st May 2018 the Childcare Offer funding for 3 and 4 year olds is being made available throughout the whole of Flintshire. There are certain criteria you have to match, which you can check on the link below.
If you are eligible, then you will receive a confirmation e-mail that needs to be passed on to us.
If you wish for further information you are more than welcome to speak to Emma, and there is information on the Flintshire Family Information website:
…and so, too, will the children at Buttercups.
Now that the clocks have gone forward and spring ushers in warmer, sunnier days (we hope!) could you make sure that, as the warm spell continues, that you bring in a suitable high factor suncream and sunhats for your children, as well as a change of clothing, including socks, as we increase the opportunities for them to indulge in water play. Please could you make sure all hats, clothes and shoes have your child’s name clearly marked on them for easy identification. The staff will make sure that they apply the cream on hot, sunny days and the children wear their hats. They will also be given plenty to drink throughout the day, so could all Toddler parents please provide water bottles so the children can freely access them through activity times.
We don’t want to stop children bringing in toys from home into the Nursery, so please could parents make sure there is a bag on their peg so we can make sure these are stored safely throughout the day.
Remember to check your child’s tray at the end of the week, too.
Please could you let us know well in advance if you intend to take holidays, especially through the school holidays.
This will enable us to plan our staffing levels and let staff take a well-earned break during the summer months. You can get a holiday form from any member of staff/ or email us at
Thanks for your help.
